Empowering Athletes, Inspiring Excellence
About Us

National Gymnastics Association of Sri Lanka (NGASL) is the official governing body for gymnastics in Sri Lanka, dedicated to promoting and developing the sport at all levels across the country. Established to nurture talent, uphold international standards, and foster a spirit of excellence, NGASL supports athletes, coaches, and clubs through training, competitions, and educational programs. Our mission is to inspire a new generation of gymnasts and elevate Sri Lanka’s presence on the global gymnastics stage.
OUR MISSION
To develop, promote, and coordinate gymnastics throughout Sri Lanka, while ensuring fair
competition, equal opportunity, and athlete-centered development. The Association is committed
to discovering and nurturing talent, raising the standard of gymnastics, and proudly representing
Sri Lanka on the international stage.
OUR VISION
Establish Sri Lanka as a leading force in gymnastics in Asia, producing world-class athletes who exemplify discipline, dedication, and competitive excellence. It aspires to create a dynamic and sustainable gymnastics ecosystem that contributes to a healthier, united, and sports-loving nation, aligned with the country’s broader vision of becoming a nation of champions in the global sporting arena.
OUR HISTORY
Gymnastics in Sri Lanka has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Before the National Gymnastics Association of Sri Lanka (NGASL) was officially formed, the sport was largely unknown. However, in 1973, a turning point came with the establishment of the School Gymnastics Association and the first All-Island Schools Gymnastics Championship.
Despite challenges such as limited resources and international exposure, Sri Lanka’s gymnasts persevered. Over the years, support from international coaches and competitions fueled their progress. Milestones such as a bronze medal at the Junior Commonwealth Games and Sri Lanka’s first Olympic appearance in gymnastics proved the nation’s potential on the global stage.
Today, as NGASL celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024, Sri Lankan gymnasts continue to compete at the highest levels, making their mark in prestigious events like the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. With world-class coaches, certified judges, and a growing talent pool, the future of gymnastics in Sri Lanka looks brighter than ever. NGASL remains committed to nurturing the next generation of athletes and taking the sport to even greater heights.
